Asus EEE

I was able to check one of these machines out the other day here in Taiwan. The interface is pretty nice, but it is based on Xandros. It uses KDE as a base. However, I think it runs pretty slow. I was thinking of getting one of these machines when the 8gb version comes out and installing Arch. Do you think this will work?

Re: Asus EEE

AFAIK it's just a PC, so I don't see any reason why arch won't work on it.

Re: Asus EEE

when 8gb is out, you might want goto low-end NB for c/p value, though.
btw, it can use Debian's etch source.list to add packages you want.

Re: Asus EEE

If I can install Arch with kdemod and a mythtv frontend I'll be all over this!

Re: Asus EEE

Here are two resources, a repository with all the necessary packages to get the hardware running and a thread that is probably too long to be of any help:

http://toofishes.net/blog/arch-eee-repository/

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=39375

Basically, if you follow the "Eee repository from toofishes" instructions in the wiki everything should magically work.
