KDE Thumbnails lost

I was running out of diskspace and deleted my thumbnail cache. Now, new pictures get thumbnailed, but any files existing wont get thumbnails built in konqueror.  I've tried playing around with the thumbnailer settings, deleted/moved .kde, .config, .local..still no use.  If I make a new user everything thumbnails correctly, but I dont want to lose all my settings by wiping out my kde config completely and starting fresh.  Does anyone know how to force kde to re-thumbnail?
