Hey There,
When I shutdown in GNOME, GDM says Shutting down computer and after a few seconds it writes Power down. and nothing happens after that... It doesn't cut down the power.
Any suggestions for this ?

Well; poweroff didn't work. I searched the forums for a while and found out that adding apm=power-off to kernel parameters is another solution. But that also didn't work.
It's really annoying to close the computer by holding down the power button. I think that this is rather Arch Linux related since a friend of mine who has the same notebook and uses Ubuntu doesn't even know about this problem.

I have removed the hsfmodem and hsfmodem-utils packages (56 k kernel module) and the notebook powerdown correct.

I don't have those packages. And I don't think that this problem can be related with powerdown.

Try adding apm to $MODULES in rc.conf and the apm=power-off parameter to your kernel line. If that fails, try acpi=off instead of apm=power-off.

Hey, it was a valid suggestion, I had to use it for awhile when my "Turn of computer" button from kde was not working. It was nice to be able to "#poweroff" instead of holding the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off. The kde problem fixed itself after a couple of system updates.
