Safe to install new filesystem package?

I see that the filesystem package has been updated to change the name of the current release and to add some options to the /etc/services file.

I also see that the complete package includes files like /etc/group and /etc/passwd.  Is it safe to run a full system update (pacman -Su) or will it overwrite my passwords with the defaults?

Meh... I'd better back everything up just in case.

Re: Safe to install new filesystem package?

Pacman will install the new files as [file].pacnew, so it's usually not a problem. I remember updating grub once that overwrote my menu.lst but I don't think that usually happens. It wouldn't hurt to backup things to be safe, but you're likely not going to end up with a broken system if you forget.
