Pencil (traditional animation software) available

Today I became aware Pencil has been updated/fixed so it can be compiled on linux. I have added a packaged to AUR if anyone is interested in trying Pencil out (currently mov export dose not work, no big deal).

Cool. It looks like it may be a lot of fun. Thanks for posting this.

Appreciated! When I'll get the time I'll test it. I hope it one shiny day might become one of those SVC packages.

Opens fine but after a few lines have been drawn, segfaults with:

Hello
"/usr/lib/qt4/plugins"
"/usr/bin"
"/usr/lib"
Segmentation fault

That sucks. The only problem I've had with it so far is the save-as dialog popping up every now and then for no reason when I click on the canvas. Perhaps it's linked to your problem.

Well it's still early days.

Edit: I just tested and it seems to happen every time after the 21st line I draw. Is it the same with your crashes?

Re: Pencil (traditional animation software) available

Clicking on the Vector bar at the bottom, then drawing causes an immediate crash on the first lie drawn, although its happened before after opening the app then drawing 4 or 5 lines.
I also get the Save dialogue after 21 lines so I guess these are both upstream bugs.

I have posted the Save-as dialogue bug on the pencil forum hopefully it's easy enough to track down.

Just to let you know, That save-as dialogue is not a bug, it's a feature! roll

Cotton if your using x86_64 I could post the pencil package built on my system if you want to test if it crashes with it?

That's their story eh wink

Thanks for the offer but I'm not on 64 bit yet. As no-one else has mentioned the segfault, I'll reinstall the dependencies to make sure its not a problem my end.
