acpid

Hello,

New to Arch (and somewhat new to linux).

Having a problem on my laptop after a fresh install.

I can't get it to power down after a "shutdown -h now" command.

I've gotten acpid installed and in rc.conf.  It gives the error "can't open /proc/acpi/event no such file or directory"

I've put acpi=on in my grub boot (just after root string and just befor ro)

Can anyone help?  I've RTFM and am not getting anywhere

Oh, if I can get apm to work I'd be just as happy as that's what worked in Debian Sarge

Thanks
Daniel

Re: acpid

Figured out the problem....

dmesg | egrep ("acpi") told me this....
bios from 99, use acpi=force

So I guess for older machines, forcing acpi is the key.

I never could get apm working tho...
