I hope to "fix" some annoying behavior. I use lots of workspaces in xfce4. I usually start emacs on the last one, and use gnuclient for most editing. Lately, I've switched to emacsclient. Emacsclient is fast and nice, but the main emacs window follows the client buffer around!
Does anybody know if it is possible to make the main emacs window, the one running the server, to stay put, or even start in the background and stay invisible?

I've started using emacsclient. I've been working on getting it to look different when editing as a user rather than as root. I haven't tried it with multiple workspaces. Did you find a solution?

nope, not yet. I've settled for just opening buffers in the main window with the speedbar.
