Sound Problems (Intel Internal Sound Device) Dell Demention 4700

Hi I've scowered some of the sound device stuff and my CA card is detected in alsa but I don't use it anymore because it's faulty at this point. I use the internal INTEL ICH6 or 5 I'm not sure does anyone know anything about this? Do I need to type the exact name of the hardware in modules or is there a driver I'm suppose to download that is configureable threw alsa?

Could you post the output from lspci please?

My laptop has intel sound and I use the snd-hda-intel module, so you could try 'modprobe snd-hda-intel'.
