can't run kde nor get to cmd line!

Hey,

I've just reinstalled arch on my laptop and it was running fine but i wanted to run kde straight from bootup so i changed my inittab stuff from 3 to 5 but i forgot to change the last line to run kde... and now everytime i boot up it brings me to an oldschool login with a little console log for "name" on the bottom right...when i log in as me or as root, it wants me to choose a Session Menu "chooseSessionListWidget" with Default/Fail safe and cancel being my only two options. If i pick one nothing really happens, and if i try to ctrl+alt+backspace to quit xserver it brings me back to the login screen!

so basically i just need a way of getting to the command line...

anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Try Ctrl+Alt+F1 (F2, F3, ...) to change to text console.

If you use grub, you can also append the option 'single' to the end of your kernel line, which will boot into single user mode.
