Legacy Doom?
Could we have a legacy doom package? PRBoom is really buggy: you can't even save the game! It'd be ncie to have a legacy package! legacy.newdoom.com/
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:2

Anyone want to try to pacakage legacy? It'd be a great contribution to the arch community!

I'm not sure why you need a pkg for this... You just download it and untar it. Then copy your doom files into it. Because it needs the doom files I don't see how we could make it a pkg.

I'm not sure why you need a pkg for this...
A package is and application compiled/assembled specificlly for arch linux.
There are already some package (in games) that need the original external data.
Download a precompiled application means that is not i686 optimized and could give problems due to link to wrong version library.
In plus it is possible that install files in wrong dir (according to archlinux structure)

I'd like to point out that there are eye-candy doom ports like doomsday and vavoom.
Doomsday is awesome playing in 1024x1024 resolution with all effects enabled! (I play shareware only, because I don't own full version; we could have a package with shareware version)
I didn't manage to compile vavoom, but AFAIK it's even more advanced than doomsday and it's based on quake engine. I'd like to see a package with this...

a doom legacy package is unnecessary, you can download the executable on their webpage http://legacy.newdoom.com/downloads.php and you can download freedoom wad and you can play doom just running ./llxdoom or ./lsdldoom if you have openGL
