compiz-fusion not remembering my settings

hello there all,

i just recently installed compiz-fusion and emerald from the repos, and i must say, it's really cool. However, i have a problem with it.
I went into the settings manager and changed some stuff around from the defaults ( added skydome, cube caps, changed zoom on cube, changed how expo does some stuff, etc.. ) And it all worked ok, but i killed my x-server, did some stuff from cli, and restarted gnome with startx.
i have the fusion-icon in my .xinitrc, then gnome-session.

compiz loads, and works when gnome starts up, but not with the settings that i had the last time. When i went into the compiz-settings manager, my changes were all still there, they just were not being used by the compiz, i tried compiz --replace, and emerald --replace, but neither prevailed.

any tips would be great, thanks

I think it isn't the way proper to do this; you have a "logout" options, use it, or close manually fusion-icon.

If you use compizconfig-backend-kde, there is some problems: it don't store information. Try to use text plain format.
