Pretty much what the title says. When SLiM starts, there's no text asking for my username/password and what I type doesn't show up. I can log in fine though. The problem happened when I decided I wanted more fonts, so I copied some ttf fonts (around a hundred files) that I had on a flash drive into /usr/share/fonts/TTF (cp *.ttf /usr/share/fonts/TTF as root). Then I changed .Xdefaults to use Consolas for urxvt and logged out. Then I couldn't see any text except the big Login (default theme). I've changed urxvt back to a bitmap font though.

You need to rebuild the font cache when adding fonts.
fc-cache -f > /dev/null
mkfontscale /usr/share/fonts/TTF
mkfontdir /usr/share/fonts/TTF
1000

Rebooted and it works now. Thanks anyway.
