Install live usb flash drive with CD boot disc assist

Install boot CD for FaunOS allows USB Flash drive to complete installation on an older computer not having USB flash boot capability.

My computer is an asus A7V333 and is able to install FaunOS using the CD method.

Both the USB Flash drive and the bootCD programs are available from the FaunOS web site

Because FaunOS is archlinux based through Larch scripts, the booted system can be run in archlinux as well by logging in as root.

The system has over 500 packages and runs with aufs , save session, and uses pacman.  Desktop is KDE but can be Beryl or whatever.

Basically, the CD opens the door to a good Live usb boot system in older computers.

Re: Install live usb flash drive with CD boot disc assist

When booted as root into archlinux with this system, a USB/IDE device permits connecting a hdd or a cd/DVD rom into the system with root privileges,

Transferring a 1GB video from a hdd with this interface produced a sustained 20MB/s transfer rate into Desktop.

EDIT:  The USB connect of the HDD allows it to be turned off after mounted use.......
