bugs in kde 3.2.2

while updating kde to 3.2.2 i unfortunately tagged arts too early, so it is in the db already ... sorry for that

if you do pacman -Suy you will be maybe told that kdelibs is needing arts 1.2.1

-> either do pacman -Suyd (as arts 1.2.2 is fully backwards compatible to arts 1.2.1)

or

-> wait some days till the other kde pkgs come out to update

Re: bugs in kde 3.2.2

Cheers dp!

Arts 1.2.2 now works with alsa dmix plugin! So KDE system notifications can chime in when playing a movie on Kaffeine or something.

However, Juk does not seem to like it. Playback is slow, then normal... XMMS has no problems though. Maybe updated Juk will be ok?

Re: bugs in kde 3.2.2

ok, now when i run 10 times apps with short description, the list of most used apps changed and i can reproduce this --- it must be a bug in kde ...

a search in bugs.kde.org i found this:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77545

see the last comment and see the link to this screenshoot:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/epyon9283/kdebug.jpg
what seems to show the exact problem we noticed

Re: bugs in kde 3.2.2

actually kdebug#80055 is a dupe of 78948:

yes .. exactly..

are you gonna fix it a new package release ?

or i must do it via abs?

thxx

hmm .. the kde team fixed it in the cvs ... so it *should* be in a 3.2.3 release

the thing is: 79713 is a regression bug from KDE 3.2.1, caused by the fix for bug 78504 and the fix by simply going back and solving 79713 would bring 78504 up again --- i didnt yet had a look at the cvs, but if we are not going to wait till 3.2.3, we need cvs-code for this --- i'll had a look to patch the pkgbuild

please open a bug (bugs.archlinux.org) for this to remind me

another problem i have is bandwidth at the moment --- probably this fix will come in some time but not very short, sorry - i'll try to upload it from the uni on monday, as at home they mminimized my upload to about ~2kb/s :-(

Re: bugs in kde 3.2.2

i started a collector-bug for bugs in kde 3.2.2 --- just to keep track of the things that went wrong in this kde-release

if you find a bug in kde 3.2.2 - that already exists in bugs.kde.org, please add it to http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=833 (if it does not exist in bugs.kde.org, then maybe it's not yet detected or it is arch, specific ... in the first case, post a new bug in bugs.kde.org (and also post to archbug 833), in the second place, post in this thread in the forum only)

thanx in advance

but the decopressor problem is still there??
we gotta wait till 3.2.3 ??

not a big deal i can always use terminal to untar files big_smile

yes, it's still there, because it's too complicated and related to other bugs to mess around --- i think the best thing would be to wait that the kde-team cleans the situation with these other things and then in 3.2.3 we have a running system

kdesu was important part of kde to productivity (as it comes up, any time you want to change something you need su-it) - the goodie to decompress from konqueror is not that important to spend days of messing with cvs+source-release to build a messy pkg (in my eyes) --- if someone brings me a working patch for these bugs, i will implement it, ofcourse
