Since latest upgrade to kernel 2.6.24-rc3-zen4 I'm not able to run python-based apps anymore. Al I get when trying to run any of them is ">>>", with the python console. I have still the -kamikaze kernel installed, and with it those apps run flawlessly.
Examples:
martin@myhost> deluge
>>>
martin@myhost> catfish
>>>
martin@myhost> sonata
>>>
martin@myhost> alunn
>>>
martin@myhost> nicotine
>>>
martin@myhost> picard

...well, I guess you got the idea. This is sooo weird, I almost used the same .config file for compiling both kernels. I even tried different options with no luck.
I think this may be related to the kernel version, but maybe i did something wrong with xconfig.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Using the same .config from kernel to kernel can lead to problems. Have you tested the problem you have on the kernel with its default configuration, or did you quickly modify to suit your needs? If it works with the default configuration, then you know you did something wrong with xconfig.

Well, I actually modified the default config quickly and removed all non-desired drivers, but they worked. Then I made some little changes and compiled again because of trouble with visor and sd-mod modules missing and other stuff like this, and suddently this problem started. Then I rebuilt with the other config file because I knew this one worked fine (yeah, you're right, with another kernel) and it compiled fine but the problem persisted.
Honestly I didn't try the default config since then (It takes 4x to compile), but maybe i'l let it compiling tonight to test.

All right, I compiled it with default config file and it didn't fix the problem.
I think it is related to kernel itself and not the pkg, but am not sure.

It's not a bug in the kernel itself, but in reiser4 patch which started in version 2.6.23.
