user account cannot find firefox or flashplugin

When I log in as my user account, I have to type in the full path to run firefox: /opt/mozilla/bin/firefox and the flash plug-in does not play youtube videos.  When I am logged in as root, it finds the firefox executable and flash works properly inside firefox.  This is on a brand new install, so i must not have configured something?

Re: user account cannot find firefox or flashplugin

could have just added /opt/mozilla/bin to your path in /etc/profile or ~/.bashrc

I vaguely remembered something about having to run Firefox as root user the first time you use it for things to work properly, and I had not done that.  After I reinstalled, I visited youtube as root before I created my user account.  When I created the user account, it worked fine.  Maybe there is some truth to that "web browse as root first" ?

Or maybe I just needed to install Firefox before I created my user account.

your making a mountain out of a mole hill. It really isn't that hard. As the other guy said, your username didn't know where to find the binary, u could have easily changed that.
