Re: What's the most important thing that isn't working in your hardware?

THis week I made t swap partition big enough for holding my ram, so now suspend to disk works perfectly with pm-utils! big_smile suspend to ram doesn't work, but I don't need it. smile

The only thing that bothers me: My printer doesn't have a linux driver!! *grr* The model is a Tally Genicom 8008 color laser...

edit: hey, its my 77th post! Does that cost? wink

Lightscribe has been working for months on Arch. Have you updated your system lately?

thanks!, I didn't noticed it

You're welcome. 4L is a good GUI for Lightscribe. It's available in AUR.

My webcam. No linux drivers so it doesn't work at all. Also my printer doesn't work, which is really important. I have to restart to windows to print everytime sad Grr Lexmark for not making 64bit drivers!

Post your hardware. Maybe someone has some info.

The printer is a Lexmark Z600 (which works fine in 32bit) and the webcam is Genius..I posted a thread about it a while ago but the solution didn't work sad

Digital camera. Completely stopped working a few weeks ago with a kernel upgrade (or some other change), no answer yet.

I remember your printer thread now. It seems that someone figured out something that may work. You'll probably need some lib32 stuff also, but it looks promising:

There are also some threads that seem to show that your web cam may work. Search for 'genius webcam linux'.

Re: What's the most important thing that isn't working in your hardware?

I put another hand up for suspend.  About one time in ten the keyboard does not work afterward and occasionally the mouse.  I think it works better if I touch nothing while it is coming back but that could all be superstition...

Re: What's the most important thing that isn't working in your hardware?

Hmm, I'd have to say either recording audio that's playing out my speakers (which I was able to work around by putting a patch cable from my amplifier to my line in) or my TV capture card remote (which I was able to work around by stretching my keyboard across the room). As for suspend, that never even worked right in Windows, so I haven't tried it in Arch yet.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot, my alt keys don't work. Though that could be my keyboard's fault.

Re: What's the most important thing that isn't working in your hardware?

I'm a bit lucky here. All my hardware parts work correctly under ArchLinux (even my TV tuner card).

My only current problem with arch is a software problem where virtual consoles break if I restart X after resuming from hibernate but that's a software and not a hardware problem.

Hardware support seems to be excellent at moment in ArchLinux. It's much better than what I hear about in other distributions.
