Alsa don't want to mix sound from multiple programs

I have soundcard based on cm8738. In previous distribution all worked fine.

Re: Alsa don't want to mix sound from multiple programs

Get a soundcard that performs *hardware* mixing (I recommend Audigy 4), then the crapness of software mixing isn't an issue.

It's a complicated issue. Sound drivers can *break* in later versions of ALSA, and distros can patch ALSA to varying extents. Look at the ALSA code - /usr/src/linux/sound/. And ~/.asoundrc can be hugely important. Plus module parameters in /etc/modprobe.conf

It worked in "previous distrobutions" because of patches. So identify those patches, and help ALSA by submitting them to the ALSA bugzilla. See my wonderful article.
