I just read an article on Phoronix. Those guys did a benchmark test with the new nvidia beta-driver 169.04 and it seems like nvidia really managed to improve it's Xrender-performance by factor 6 to 12, in comparison to the latest stable driver 100.14.19!! They also seem to have improved the OpenGL-performance.
Looks quite promising to me! Did somebody already test this beta-driver?

there's a pkgbuild in aur:nvidia-beta
i found it too unstable to use a week or two ago when i tested it so i dunno how it really performs

I haven't tested it yet. Put it is planned : for me what is really important is that it fixes some regressions in the previous drivers which made it impossible to use nvidia's driver with my card "7300 GS".
Since I add so many problems with nvidia's driver I switched to the good old and working 2D opensource driver (so called nv). And I am very happy with it ![]()
As soon as this driver is officially released I will give another chance to NVidia's driver ... I have heard a lot of good things too about this new version ![]()
Mandrake (2001) -> Debian (2002) -> Nasgaia (2003) -> LFS (2004) -> FreeBSD (2004) -> Gentoo (2005) -> Kubuntu (2006) -> Archlinux (2007) -> ?
Will Archlinux finally be THE distro of my dreams ? Time will say, but its on the way ![]()
