KDE and blank screen

Hello,

I'd like to turn off the display by the KDE screensaver, rather to use a black background.
I can't figure out what can trigger the screensaver and if it's allowed to launch any application rather that only the screensaver itself.
BTW KDE version 3.5.8 .:)
I've also install laptop-mode power management, but I didn't set anything yet. Usually I'd like that function only and if pressing the sleep key to go into suspend-2-RAM, the rest I still haven't decided if I want to use them.
