RSS feeds

Yo!

I'm currently thinking of better organizing my internet-life. Hell, I've never even used a single bookmark so far (except for browser homepage). So I'm pretty new to the RSS scene and want to know about all the hidden Arch feeds, their quirks, url parameters, which format is best, and so on.

I think I know most of them already -- News, pkg updates, new AUR uploads, Planet, Wiki, Flyspray -- but when I tried using them in Opera some months ago, I always had some minor issues, like duplicates for the Wiki (lots) and Planet (few) feeds, missing linebreaks, wrong dates and probably more. Now I'll try Akregator.

So, do you know of other feeds (again, Arch-only, I know the other threads), or have some tips and tricks to speed up my information processing habits? And what's your client of choice?

(my 2nd question-thread, so be gentle! lol)

I hate sigs. This one only exists to remind myself to get an avatar.

Re: RSS feeds

snownews is the only decent ncurses client imo. only drawback might be considered that it doesnt have an auto update feed time to set and u have to get the feeds manually everytime by pressing R for getting all of them or r only for the highlighted entry. which personally i consider better anyway.
never had duplicate feeds but havent used any other client
there are no other Arch related feeds afaik

Re: RSS feeds

There are, of course, web-based alternatives too: Google Reader, Netvibes, etc etc. I prefer to just use http://www.rssfwd.com, which forwards rss items to your email and then you can use email client stuff to manipulate them.

Re: RSS feeds

The client of choice for me is liferea. It does the job and does it well. The only Archs feeds I have in it are http://www.archlinux.org/feeds/news/ and http://www.archlinux.org/feeds/packages/
