ATI video card and wrong resolution [solved]

Hey Archers, finally got Arch on my laptop and I've been mostly lucky on getting things done, like I'm using my wireless to browse, BUT I can't get the right resolution working on my screen, I used the OS drivers and here is my slightly modified xorg.conf:

Section "ServerLayout"

    Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
    InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"

EndSection

Anything y'all can see to help?

I'm so used to using nVidia cards that just work I'm a bit at a loss here.

Re: ATI video card and wrong resolution [solved]

I don't believe you mentioned which ATI card you have, but I see you're using the stock vesa driver. I have good success with the opensource driver for ATI:

pacman -S xf86-video-ati

There is also the proprietary ATI driver which some people like:

pacman -S catalyst

Re: ATI video card and wrong resolution [solved]

Just try adding a VertRefresh and HorizSync to section "Monitor":

HorizSync     30.0 - 130.0
VertRefresh   50.0 - 130.0

Re: ATI video card and wrong resolution [solved]

Adding the Horizontal and Vertical info didn't work, suppose I'll try using the ATI driver
