Hey,
I've been reading that the PS3 controller works in Linux. Unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. I don't have much joystick experience (that sounds bad) and I'm just following the directions in the wiki article. They don't seem to help here. I modprobe usbhid, joydev, and analog. I'm thinking analog is the wrong one to load. There is, however, a /dev/input/js0. lsusb returns something like this
Bus 005 Device 006: ID 0781:7460 SanDisk Corp.
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 054c:0174 Sony Corp.
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 0bc2:3000 Seagate RSS LLC
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 054c:0268 Sony Corp.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000So I'm guessing it sees something. At least I think it might; my computer is a sony product so maybe it sees something else. So where I'm at, I try to play some game and see if it works... and it... doesn't.
I did install the joystick package in the repositories. I tried installing the joyutils in the AUR but returned errors about a version number (the package is supposedly out of date).
Does anyone have experience with this? Please let me know!

Alright, I found that I need to put the controller into "operational mode" by "adding a USBhid quirk"

I recognize that people may not know anything about the PS3 controller but would you know how I might go about this?

That patch should already be included in kernels 2.6.21 and up. It should just be plug 'n play.

Has anyone noticed a slight delay when using the controller with zsnes?
My roomates said they were going to get me rims for Christmas, or a CB radio so I can talk to other car beds; that'll be hot. Might get a stereo, too. My sister said I should get an alarm.

Well I plugged my ps3 controller in through USB and if I try to set game controls with it when I push buttons on it nothing happens so its not being detected. Is there some kind of driver needed?

Using the PS3 controllers works perfectly with that.
Edit: just noticed this thread is 3 years old ![]()

did you press the ps button? that turn the controller on, flashing ligths doesn't mean that the controller it's on. you have to do it manually.
