Re: Wine problem, not working

First: Are you running arch 64 or arch 32
Second: Does winecfg run, or not?

Re: Wine problem, not working

Hmmm
No idea, actually... I think it's an unique bug related to your specific hardware...
Anyway:
First are you running the vanilla kernel,
Second did you tri to build wine yourself via PKGBUILD
Third is it the first time you try to run wine (has wine run on your system before, like before upgrade or something)
Fourth if the answer to the third is true try older wine versions.

Re: Wine problem, not working

Yea vanilla arch kernel. I've had wine run on this machine before, but its been a while. Installed via pacman from repos.... well oh well guess I just have to wait for a newer release maybe it'll work then smile. Really wanted to try steam on wine (serious dod:s addiction) wink thanks for your help

Re: Wine problem, not working

Lately I've been getting these oopses and ultimately panics from which the only way to recover is holding down the power button for 5 secs ever since 2.6.23 sad I doubt it's due to a component specific to the kernel version, I figure it's more of a physical RAM, module or acpi issue.

Need some time to decode, but on the surface it looks like a module problem (may be memory leak). First, find out the call trace references using the System.map for that kernel. Rmmbr, stack trace is relative to kernel, in particular the symbols are different for every kernel so only the person having access to the kernel and/or symbol table can decode it. Maybe it's time for a bug report but who maybe it's our own stupid mistakes lol
