Re: Sylpheed does not work

i don't remember but i don't think it is built with gpg support. i will look at it when i get home. actually until gpgme is in the trees i may have to change back to having no gpg support if i built it in.

anyway it will be fixed by later tonight.

Re: Sylpheed does not work

There is a gpgme pkg in the unstable repository along with the Sylpheed Claws pkg which might fix this. I don't know for sure as I use my own setup for Claws right now.

Re: Sylpheed does not work

It does not look like GPG support is compiled into either package of sylpheed. You can register to the bug tracker then file a feature request. Until then you could use ABS and makepkg to recompile either regular sylpheed or sylpheed-claws with GPG support. I warn you though you may have to seek out the gpgme3 package as the higher version of gpgme did not work with sylpheed.

Re: Sylpheed does not work

hi sarah,
I want to warn you about the name of the package you suggest to me, its real name is gpgme03 .. I'll try to modify the PKGBUILD and report the forum  what's going to happen after compilation.

For the records, as of sylpheed-claws claimed to get rid of gpgme built in, so
you were supposed to use sylpheed-pgpinline plugin instead ... which never
worked for me.
I didn't get version 1.0 not built without having gpgme03 installed though
(1.0 is not in unstable yet, for exactly that reason)
but it is true, with gpgme package installed you never get it compiled

Re: Sylpheed does not work

at the end I wrote my own PKGBUILD and I posted it to the italian ArchLinux's forum, sylpheed's PKGBUILD
If anyone wants to try it please report to me your own problems, it seems to work well on my pc..

Re: Sylpheed does not work

Hi,

finally, I got around to have a look at it. It turned out, that the pgp/inline plugin is available seperately but pgp/mime - which is meant to be preferred as it is RFC compliant! - is included in the big source ball. gpgme03 is autodetected. So wa are in the pleasant situation to make gpgme03 a make depend - so theplugin works if you have gpgme03 installed,
otherwise it crashes though sad

The inline plugin still does not work for me, but I will use the newer mime plugin anyway.

btw, package is just building and will be available in 2h or so
#######################EDIT#################
argh, if installed, the binary still links against gpgme03 library. I consider this to be an upstream bug. But for now, gpgme03 stays a hard dependency

I'm speaking explicitely of sylpheed-claws, which doesn't know such option like --enable-gpgme any longer(as of 0.9.13). I know sylpheed itself is a bit different on this. From the changelog I gathered that gpgme is no dependency for the binary anymore in sylpheed-claws. Instead all the pgp functionality was moved to plugins, that can be loaded or not. The plugin is built when gpgme03 is detected on the system. BUT, the actual binary still links gainst gpgme, which I consider to be a bug in the sources.
