This was supposed to be a thread about me not getting nvidia (nvidia-beta (v169.04-2) from AUR that is) module to load, and to get some info on the output I got I reran the 'yaourt -S nvidia' command. Just before I hit "post" I figured I'd try to load the kernel and it worked. I logged out and restarted GDM and here I am, back with compiz and my wobbly windows
I don't know why it worked though, cause I would think something was missing when I saw this when I ran 'yaourt -S nvidia-beta':
==> Validating source files with md5sums
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-169.04-pkg1.run ... Passed

Anyway, it loaded just fine. Doesn't look like the ERROR notice inside there was real. Or?.
Not that it's a good benchmark, but the 8800GT flies with flying colors in the simple glxgears "benchmark":
With metacity:
[joffer@matrix ~]$ glxgears
98878 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19775.413 FPS
99007 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19801.400 FPS
99202 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19840.210 FPS
99733 frames in 5.0 seconds = 19946.476 FPS
[joffer@matrix ~]$ glxgears -fullscreen
9881 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1976.127 FPS
9942 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1988.323 FPS
9958 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1991.526 FPS
9956 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1991.181 FPS
With compiz:
[joffer@matrix ~]$ glxgears
67850 frames in 5.0 seconds = 13569.878 FPS
67136 frames in 5.0 seconds = 13427.090 FPS
68268 frames in 5.0 seconds = 13653.482 FPS
[joffer@matrix ~]$ glxgears -fullscreen
8772 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1754.361 FPS
8774 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1754.541 FPS
8774 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1754.672 FPS

It is only echoing the install script. All you're seeing is a portion of the install script itself.
Nice framerate though.
The most I can get is that:
[sebleblanc@dynamite ~]$ glxgears
6223 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1243.890 FPS
5045 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1008.490 FPS
5057 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1011.185 FPS
5967 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1193.209 FPS

[jasin@kermit ~]$ glxgears -fullscreen
19336 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3867.127 FPS
19582 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3916.388 FPS
19555 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3910.901 FPS
19538 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3907.421 FPS
I have a 8600 gt, but yet u beat me in regular window FPS.

No reason to use the beta anymore, nvidia has released a stable version of the 169 driver. Just wait for package updates, or modify the pkgbuilds yourselves (which I did).

Same goes for here, also using the beta. Would anyone feel as free as to post the updated PKGBUILD?

I have some time, so I've adopted packages nvidia-beta and nvidia-utils-beta. Updated to 169.09.
