NVIDIA driver kills all

Using the NVIDIA driver kills everything!

The Xorg log file shows that the driver is loaded okay, and eveything appears to go well, but then everything stops. Nothing is displayed on my monitor once X starts, either from GDM or startx.

I've tried using the nvidia drivers from the extra repo, as well as the installer from the nvidia site, neither works. Using the VESA driver does work as a work-around (for now).

Note: If I'm connected via SSH that gets killed too sad (Nothing survives and I have to poweroff the bad way.)

PS - My graphics card is a GeForce 8600 GT.

Re: NVIDIA driver kills all

I've tried using 169.07 from the nvidia site, but I get the same problem - I'll mozy on to their support forums and see what I can find.
