Hi all,

Re: F@H Arch Linux Team - Recruitment & Stats thread - HELP US !.

Looks like its snigged on something...

fah -queueinfo
see which slot is filled with work

fah -delete #
delete the problematic queue

Restart afterwards see if that helps.

Hi quad3d@work,

I did as you suggested and restarted.  The client downloaded a WU then gave this:

When you run top do you see F@H using CPU time? If not, try reinstall it then.

Re: F@H Arch Linux Team - Recruitment & Stats thread - HELP US !.

I have found a post on the F@H forum which says this is typical behaviour when a bad WU is downloaded.  The advice is to keep downloading and deleting until a new WU is obtained.

Top showed nothing out of the ordinary.

Any further advice is welcome.

diesel1, two things to check, make sure you have the 32 bit libraries installed, and make sure you have your hostname set in /etc/rc.conf and in /etc/hosts. Otherwise you will have that problem tongue

Thanks for the tip, although rc.conf contained my hostname the /etc/hosts file did not.  This problem has occured since my 6 year old router blew up over the weekend! I think it was covering my lack of a properly set hostname.

Anyhow apart from losing 90% of a WU everything is back to normal.

Many thanks,

Diesel1.

Wow, going to be interesting to see how your PPD goes up.  I remember when Finkregh put F@H on two servers (16 cores) they were burning in for about 6 weeks.  His PPD went balistic.  How long until they go into production?

Howdy,
Been running F@H on my desktop for a little while now and am thinking about adding my laptop as well.

Edit: had a question about ACPI handling and F@H which I solved.  Glad to be aboard big_smile

Just completed my first WU today. The machine that I'm folding on is all but impressive though so I'm hoping to pick up the pace a bit when I can fold an a couple of better machines.

Re: F@H Arch Linux Team - Recruitment & Stats thread - HELP US !.

Well, we are getting close to some milestones for the Arch Linux folding team.  We are closing in on 20 million total points, we are closing in on entering the top 150 teams, and uberPenguin is closing in on becoming Arch's fourth millionaire.  We also had our first 2 million point plus month last month.

When I joined the Arch Linux folding team, we were in the eight hundreds, almost nine hundreds, as far as team position.  At that point I never dreamed that we would achieve statistics like the ones mentioned above.  Being in the top 150 teams will be great, but if we ever cracked the top 100, well at that point I would have to start believing that the Cubs could make the World Series!

Thanks to eveyone who is folding and who has folded in the past.

Re: F@H Arch Linux Team - Recruitment & Stats thread - HELP US !.

I just started folding for the Arch Linux team this morning. I used to fold, but when I switched to Linux I couldn't find an easy way to install it. With the AUR that is remedied, so from now on all my machines will be folding for the Arch Linux Team. Hope I can help put the team into the top 150!

How many instances of the SMP client do you run on 8 cores?  Two or four?
