A [FAIL] message flies by at boot; how do I debug it?

After performing a system upgrade, I noticed some sort of error being reported at the very end of my bootsequence. Some text flies by and I see a [FAIL] tag. Unfortunately, it is going too fast to see what the problem is. Even though the system seems otherwise fully functional, I would like to know what the error is. I tried browsing through the logs in /var/log and took a look at dmesg, but these do not seem to cover the final part of the boot (when the kernel is succesfully loaded, I suppose). I cannot find a way to enable bootlogging either. Any ideas?

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dis … t_messages

Instead of playing with inserting that character, better cp /etc/issue /etc/issue.back and then remove the char in /etc/issue.

I think hitting scroll lock during boot will pause it so you can get a look.

Thanks guys. Since the scroll lock option seemed the easiest, I tried that first and it worked. It turned out to be an easily fixed problem with ALSA.
