[SOLVED] Alpine - Error sending: No default posting command

Hi, I have installed the Alpine mail client yesterday, and it all works nicely, except I can't send mail. Everytime I try I get this message:

Error sending: No default posting command

I have tried googling around, and from what I understand Alpine uses sendmail by default, but I haven't got it installed, nor I can find it in the repos. Is there any way I can change this? And what can I use to send mail?

Thanks.

No, I was wrong I think.
I was able to send mail by specifying Gmail's SMTP in the settings. More or less. Now I have to fiddle with the certificate authentication and such...

Ok, I managed using this SMTP server, if anyone can find it useful:

smtp.gmail.com/submit/user=your.username@gmail.com

This is a little off topic but can you change the default layout to have a split screen so you have folders, messages, and a preview section on one screen?

Re: [SOLVED] Alpine - Error sending: No default posting command

I haven't dug it enough yet, and I'm not sure that this is possible, even though Alpine is very customisable as far as I can see.
I'll let you know if I find anything wink

No, you can't. There's a strict separation between the 3 views (mail folders, message list, single mail).

Re: [SOLVED] Alpine - Error sending: No default posting command

Sorry but I have another question now. Can I set up so my username and password are in the config so i don't have to enter them every time I open alpine?

Thanks
