Hello all
I've done a pacman -syu, and it did an upgrade to the kernel (2.6.23-ARCH) and i'm not sure if it upgraded x-server too.
The question is, now my fonts (my X-server) are all blury, like without anti-alias, it's very hard to see the letters, and the resolution is all wrong. I've checked the fonts dirs, and configuration, everything is ok, i haven't done anything but the upgrade, so i don't know what could be wrong. Anyone had the same problem or knows the fix for this?
I'm putting here 2 screenshots (1 of my desktop, the other of this post) i hope you can see my problem

what programs have you upgraded at the time the problem started? You could post the end of your /var/log/pacman.log so we could limit this down a bit.

Just a guess, without having any knowledge of your desktop setup whatsoever, but... if you run the catalyst ATI driver and upgraded over the holidays, there's a known resolution problem which can also affect the way fonts are displayed. Search the forums for more info if that matches your scenario.

I can see the blurriness, so I do not think u are crazy. Just FYI!
As thayer said, it maybe the ati drivers if u have an ati card. Other then that, post the pacman log as suggested and then we will be able to track down the problem. One sure fire way is to start downgrading packages until things have been fixed. Then u know what package it is, that is if it the package upgrade didn't effect some other system config file at the same time. Again, pacman log should clarify this if it happened.

Thanks for the reply i don't have an ATI card i do have a NVIDIA card. I think the problem was on the upgrade i made on the 25 of December, wich had nvidia driver upgraded and Xorg server too. I will try to post the log here, and i know other people who had the same problem, and some even were using Arch 32 bits

Hello hacosta
I've found the problem, the problem is due to the new nvidia drivers, i've also had some reports that the new ati drivers have the same problem (weird)
The problem is, resolutions superior to 1280x800 have that blur problem, i've removed nvidia from xorg.conf and replaced it by nv, and now everything is ok. The problem wasn't on the fonts, but on the nvidia driver, for now i have nvidia 3d disabled, maybe on the next driver update this problem is fixed.
