My ipw2200 wireless card, in general, works fine. However, I'm staying with some family and my card refuses to associate with the network. I was sitting literally two feet from the router, iwlist eth1 scan was showing the network with quality 100/100, and I have the correct WEP key (though that shouldn't be needed to associate, should it?). My nephew's Nintendo DS connects fine, so there can't be anything wrong with the network. Any suggestions?

Increase the TIMEOUT I had a similar problem recently and that worked fine.
Sometimes pre-scanning helps too.

My card doesn't seem to support anything to do with power management, except on and off (neither of which work, by the way), and what is pre-scanning?

I don't know how you configure your wireless but check all the info, not only the key... I remember having a similar problem when I tried to connect to the wifi at my parent's house for the first time - it turned out that their router was 192.168.0.1 rather than 192.168.1.1 I have at home- for example.

Got it: I had to set the security mode to restricted in order to connect. I'm guessing this is a feature of the router.

And for the sake of accuracy: the WEP key is required to associate with the AP.
