I am wondering what will happen when KDE4 is released. Will the new KDE4 packages replace the KDE3 packages? Or will the KDE3 packages stay like kdebase3? Because there will be apps that won't be ported to KDE4 yet. Will they be updated staight away (aka in the same week it is released). I certainly hope so, because I am getting tired of having to build KDE4 every once in a while to fix irritating bugs.

Been wondering this myself, as apparently kde 4.0 does not equal kde4.
I think they should be seperate metapkgs and not an upgrade.

Considering the number of packages that depend on kde being kde3 that won't be updated for some time, the sanest method will probably be to name kde4 as that and leave kde 3 as just kde. That's how Qt3/4 is being handled so far.
My roomates said they were going to get me rims for Christmas, or a CB radio so I can talk to other car beds; that'll be hot. Might get a stereo, too. My sister said I should get an alarm.

@jb.. in testing, qt is qt4, wheras qt3 is qt3.. i think that following arch's principles, kde4 should become the kde package (in testing) while still having kde3 packages

Oh yeah, forgot checking out the testing repo; was just going by what I could -Q/Si from extra and community. I guess they did change the naming scheme. Seems like a bit more work, but hey whatever works and they're comfortable with. ![]()
