[solved] k3b locks system after latest update with pacman.

When starting k3b, it starts to load up, takes up the entire screen and freezes.
Locking up the system.  I can still ssh in from another machine, and at that point kill k3b, but xorg is STILL taking up 100% cpu usage....

Tried starting k3b from console...... did   k3b 2>k3b.log  here is the entire output.....

http://pastebin.archlinux.org/23309

The line that stands out for me is:
kdecore (KAction): WARNING: KActionCollection::operator+=(): function is severely deprecated.

ideas ?  I tried reinstalling k3b, but I'm guessing it's some other update I've done.

Re: [solved] k3b locks system after latest update with pacman.

Well Dave, on my 3 boxes with Archlinux all working fine wink

Questions
1.) Do you have this problem on all your boxes?
2.) You update from your own server crouse. ..../archlinux/repos.... does the sync working well?
3.) Have you update all packages?
4.) HWD did you use HWD (Extra system hwd 5.3.1-1 Hardware detect for Arch Linux (devfs and udev). 2008-01-04) and did you after the update run

hwd -u

this is important!

Can you display the PCI devices

Re: [solved] k3b locks system after latest update with pacman.

OK Dave, test your DVD I think you have a Hardware conflict. Are the drives on one Bus? Try to disconnect the drive and test if the TEAC drive works with out that your system locks up. Check also all the basic things, cable etc. good luck big_smile

Re: [solved] k3b locks system after latest update with pacman.

The only thing hwd -u does is updating static hardware listings in /usr/share/hwdata. That command might help if you're not satisfied with lspci or lsusb output, but it certainly won't fix anything related to cd/dvd-burning.

Re: [solved] k3b locks system after latest update with pacman.

Have you try to use the catalyst and catalyst-utils driver (fglrx)?

and maybe the developer "Cerebral" stop by at this thread and have a answer for you!

at my boxes with ATI Radeon cards and the driver catalyst all works fine.

Created a new xorg.conf file and things went back to normal.
Had some bad lines in the xorg.conf file...... amazing what THAT does wink
