Unreal Tournament 2004: black screen

I installed the linux version of Unreal Tournament 2004, because wine had mouse releasing issues, and besides, linux natic is better. It seemed to have installed fine. The first time I ran ut2004, it showed the nvidia logo, then went to a black screen and sat there forever and never loaded the game menu, the 2nd time I ran it, I got a black screen instantly, and now I still am getting a black screen, what could be causing this issue?

Any console output? Have you installed the right graficcard drivers? Did you install the newest version from liflg.org?

No console output, I have nvidia geforce 5200fx, and the nvidia drivers installed. I don't have the newest version from liflg.org, so I'll try that now.

FYI the nvidia v169.07-1 driver did not work for me.  I had to revert back to v100.14.19-2.  I have a XFX 7900GT.
