VLC Crashing

I haven't dug to far in to this to see which DVD's are doing this and which DVD's aren't but I recently got a new laptop (Dell Vostro 1500) that I have installed Arch64 on. I was testing that I can play DVD's this morning and here is what happened. It played Ratatouille and a live music DVD from All That Remains fine but when I tried to play Rush Hour 3 I get this error message:

libdvdnav: Using dvdnav version 0.1.10 from http://dvd.sf.net
libdvdread: Using libdvdcss version 1.2.9 for DVD access

Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas?

I have tried vlc in a Arch32 chroot environment and on my old laptop that is Arch32 and have gotten the same result.

Thanks

Re: VLC Crashing

VLC sometimes has some problems with the DVD navigation of some DVDs (at least that's what I've experienced). You can try to play it without letting VLC trying to play the DVD menu by using "open Media" and then select the DVD only checkbox.

That didn't seem to work. It doesn't crash but it says it can't read some file. I will have to get the exact error later as I am at work. I did get it to play with mplayer without the menu but it took forever to read the disc. Also with gxine the DVD will start playing but then it freezes completely and I have to xkill it.

I will chime in later with the exact error message that I get with VLC

Thanks
