When I first stated using arch I was not not using AURbuild or yaourt, I happily downloaded PKG files and tried to turn on the branding in Firefox3, I worked as far as the icon for firefox3 was a gray cube. After a couple of weeks I decided to tackle the issue, by then I was using yaourt and it downloaded and installed firefox3 for me but it was branded mindfield.
During the install with yaourt I didn't see the option to edit the mozconfig file? Is this normal? Do you have to be more hands on to install firefox3 with the branding and other options turned off or on?
Also where does yaourt download and compile stuff too, I've looked in various dirs including /var/abs...... but I don't see any files yaourt has downloaded.
Regards
Mark

Oh yea, later I intend to remove all instances of firefox. and reinstall. I my mplayer-plugins stopped working with embedded media like the BBC. I hear the audio but don't get any video. I also find firefox 3 has issues with the xf86-video-ati driver. on images that have been rescaled I get a black image insted of the image it's self. On ebay it's really annoying. firefox2 is OK, changing to vesa driver in xorg.conf stops the issue in firefox3.

Yes, everyone who knows anything knows firefox3 is beta. It is branded as beta. It stable enough for general use though. I would say it depends on your definition of beta. Some say until Microsoft released XP SP2 all previous versions of windows was a beta really, it just wasn't marketed as such.
Still I want to install the latest build do some testing, and maybe report some possible bug in firefox3, I just was wondering if yaourt would help configure some of the options in the mozconfig file. Or find it's location during the yaourt installation so I can edit it.

easier said than done, I give the following information but i'm not sure if i'm doing this correctly. I have more than 1 process running with firefox-bin in the list, I picked the one I though was best.
Well pman -d for the PID I chose gave me the following output.
mapped: 229548K writeable/private: 159824K shared: 1332K
Firefox had been running for hours I had 5 tabs open.
I will start using firefox3 for the next few hours and report output of pman later!
.... a while passed ana this was the output with firefox3
mapped: 196736K writeable/private: 145796K shared: 1140K
Note my laptop has 256K RAM. Old IBM laptop. Now anyone want to comment the original topic?

yaourt build packages in /tmp/yaourt-tmp-username/ by default. You can adjust this path in yaourtrc file (look for TmpDirectory in man yaourtrc)

I am still not able to use yaourt and install firefox3 with the branding enabled. Can anyone provide instructions? Please.

another solution:
$ cd /tmp/
$ yaourt --getpkgbuild firefox3
$ vi mozconfig
$ makepkg -i

I did install firefox3 via yaourt in the end, however after the install finished it deleted the firefox folder from the /tmp/yaourt-..... I wanted to keep this so I could rebuild with different options without having to start from scratch.
Can anyone advise how to stop this behavior?
