disassociate filetypes in firefox

I installed the extra/mplayer-plugin package to allow me to play videos in firefox but it also attached itself to various audio files such as mp3. How can I disassociate mp3 files from the mplayer plugin and return them to playing in an external app?

I can see the association in about:plugins but that doesn't let me edit it, or am I missing something?

Hi,

you can edit the file associations at

Edit -> Preference -> Content -> Filetypes.

Re: disassociate filetypes in firefox

The only thing in that dialog is mp4 and it doesn't allow me to add new ones to override the association.

I think I'll have to modify some config file by hand but I don't know which.

Ah, sorry, and I forgot to mention that double clicking on the values in about:config changes them hmm.

Re: disassociate filetypes in firefox

But not in about:plugins :-(

The last column in Enabled which seems to imply that the line can be disabled but I can't find a way to do it.
