urxvt problem...

Since i reinstalled Arch Linux, my urxvt acts strangely. Everytime i open a new terminal window, it remains empty until i write something or click it.

the lower window is the newly opened one as you might have guessed.

Any clue what could be the cause of this?

Re: urxvt problem...

There's already a thread about this issue, but there's no solution yet.

Re: urxvt problem...

this an upstream problem. with version 8.8 which never made it to the arch repos cause it was buggy and 8.9 was released shortly after, it happened when closing too and believe me it was much worst that way. i havent seen an upstream report for that one though

this is the bug: http://lists.schmorp.de/pipermail/rxvt- … 00527.html

this is the fix:
8.9  Mon Dec 24 07:51:40 CET 2007
    - fix the issue where urxvtd would not immediately close a window
when the command exited but only on the next X event.

i guess noone noticed it happened when starting the app too then. someone should report it there

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Re: urxvt problem...

i reported the bug on the irc and theres patch that probably solves this.
if some people could try it and give feedback, it would be great.
i have a built 686 package here with trasparency disabled and built with pacman 3 NOT 3.1
also if you care for transparency and want to make your own package the patch can be found here
