HOWTO: Adjust adblock subscription to allow google ads for Arch Forums

So I realised I wasn't helping out my favourite distro by running adblock, and I wanted to do something about it.

I subscribe to EasyList, as I'm sure many of you do, and the following two options need to be unchecked to allow google ads (And thus to pay your arch masters):

http://pagead2.$~other
/ads*.php$subdocument

Note: This will enable google ads everywhere.

It's a Good Thing (tm).

Re: HOWTO: Adjust adblock subscription to allow google ads for Arch Forums

I've never had a problem with google ads.  In fact, I don't use AdBlock, though I do use NoScript and that takes care of lots of annoying ads right there.  I have whitelisted google ads in NoScript however - they're unintrusive and don't bother me one bit.

You can tell AdBlock to allow ads on specific sites.
I use Opera BTW, and I didn't even knew there where ads on the forum smile

You can 'whitelist' items by preceding them with '@@'. I remember there was a way to download ads without showing them on the page, just to support those websites whom you know are in need of the money, but I wasn't able to find it today. Maybe the feature was removed?

it would be nice if you could whitelist sites to download ads for sites you want, only the ads are not shown.  That way the adserver thinks they were downloaded but you don't have to be annoyed by the actual ads.
