Blank screen + unresponsive keyboard starting X with ati driver + r100

Hi everybody. I've been sitting on this problem for a month hoping an update would fix it but I've had no luck. sad
Before the slim login screen can show up, the screen blanks. All I can do is move the X-shaped cursor around. Alt-Ctrl-BkSp does nothing, and neither does trying to switch to a vt. My only recourse is to shutdown the computer. A deleted my xorg.conf and I can get into X fine, so maybe the problem is in the "ati" driver. This happened from one day to the next so I think an update may have broken it. Is this happening to anyone else?

Here are my stats:
ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP (r100 chipset)
ati driver
toshiba satellite a65-s126
slim login manager

I'm using compiz-fusion but I have it set to start after I log in so I doubt it's that.

Here is my xorg.conf:

Re: Blank screen + unresponsive keyboard starting X with ati driver + r100

I had the same problem with my Radeon Mobility U1.

The solution is to downgrade the xf86-video-ati driver to the version 6.7.195-3 and it should work flawlessly.
Make sure pacman and/or yaourt don't upgrade this driver inadvertently to this latest, buggy version, until a fix is released.
