Lirc using irDa on an IBM T21 laptop.

First of all please allow me to say thanks to all the great developers and overall the community surrounding Arch Linux, it is the best dist I have ever tried!

I was wondering if anyone have gotten lirc to work on an Ibm T21 or if not if someone could help me to get it running.

I tried following this but when I try to load the lirc_sir module the computer just totally freezes.

Any ideas?
