Gnome icons overwriting my own choice of icons...

I am using an icontheme from xfce-look.org xquisite which I like a lot. But after installing abiword and gnumeric some of the icons are replaced by gnome icons. It's only the ones on the desktop.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
I am using xfce4....
