Using -march and -mtune

Would making the -march CFLAG more specific than the -mtune CFLAG ever make any sense? Ie, if I had -march=prescott and -mtune=generic. I know what march and mtune do, and it seems like there's no point in specifiying -mtune if it's going to be more general than -march.
