pacman 3.1 & AUR

Somehow I had got the impression that pacman 3.1 was supposed to include direct AUR support with the "-aur" flag. This doesn't seem to be the case, and now I can't find any mention of it. Is this planned in a future release or was it just wishful thinking?

No. Never planned. Use pacman wrapper scripts for these.

Pacman, although Arch Linux develops and uses it, is designed to be distro-agnostic so anyone can pick it up and use it for package management, which does in fact happen. Incorporating things such as the AUR would break this goal, so it will never happen.

Pacman is also a binary package manager, unsupported is source based (pacman has support for community). There are plenty of tools for the job, use those.
