Re: [REQUEST]geotrace

Hi! I just had a look at the project page of geotrace and I don't think it's possible to build a package for AUR because of legal issues. Geotrace is GPLv.2, but the author used code of another project, GTrace, which is not GPLv2 and prohibits commercial use without granted permission. Do you know a similar project?

Can you post the link please?

IMHO generally a closed source library may not prevent publishing in the AUR. The maintainer should only make clear that commercial use requires a grant.

Are you sure? I think such restrictions are not allowed in combination with GPL2, but I'm no expert :-) link: http://geotrace.sourceforge.net/

Re: [REQUEST]geotrace

I had a look at the license file in the gtrace tarball. I think, under some circumstances it is possible to make a PKGBUILD vor geotrace.

You have to be sure that the parts of gtrace that are in the geotrace package are no sources but only object code.

You may not split up these sources into an gtrace package and a geotrace package.

Since my knowledge of java is very limited I do not want to make such an PKGBUILD. I do not want to decide which code is object code and which isn't.
