Re: Newbie Here!

If you didn't install grub for Arch, you need to add an Arch entry to your Ubuntu grub menu.lst.

Some general advice, as you're a self-confessed newbie:
- if something doesn't work, provide as much detail as you can. Posting "it doesn't work" will not get you much of a response.
- start a new thread if you have a new question/problem e.g. your request for general post-install assistance and your boot issue.
- make sure your topic is relevant to what you're asking about i.e. not something general like "Newbie Here!" (You're in Newbie Corner, so we more or less figured that one out. smile ).

Before I began using Arch exclusively, I dual booted it with Ubuntu as well. When I installed Arch, I made sure to install grub to Arch's / partition so I could copy the menu.lst entry fro within Ubuntu to the menu.lst in Ubuntu's /boot/grub directory. That way I was assured of getting the correct entry since the installer had written it using the file system mount points I'd specified.

If changing your mount points from
title  Arch Linux (Main)
root   (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda1 ro vga=773
initrd /boot/kernel26.img
to pointing wherever your install is does not work, you might try re-installing and either copying down the grub entry the installer generates for your installing grub in arch's / so you can copy / paste it and then boot into it.
