Hello everybody,
for a friend I set up a PC to use as a music player in a pub, using amarok on kde. I installed a small arch system with kde and amarok mainly. Everything is working fine. Well, nearly... After about 10 minutes of playing music, the system shuts down the monitor and - guess what? No sound anymore. Move the mouse - here we go again.. I disabled any screensaver - to no avail. I dind't even install any acpid, this is arch out-of-the-box! What happens here?
Any clues?

Right click on the desktop, go to configure desktop, then to display. Switch to the power management tab and disable it. ![]()

raven,
You are thinking quite problem oriented
I did this already, and it is working. But the real question is: why does _monitor_ power management affect the sound? And looking at your post the answer came up - because the loudspeakers of my test environment are _in_ the monitor... Duh! Silly me! Plugging the sound to external speakers solved this one. Thank you for awaking me ![]()
