what could be wrong? the font can change. :?:

My guess is that you're trying to use switch with GTK2 apps. Try installing gtk-theme-switch2 and using 'switch2' rather than 'switch'. OR an even better program is gtk-chtheme. Try that one out too.

xmms? that's gtk, isn't it? anyway, i already had tried switch2, and that doesn't change anything but the font, either. I must be missing something... :?: trying gtk-chtheme...

Yes, xmms is GTK 1. 'switch' should work, as long as you're applying GTK 1 themes, of course. Which themes have you tried? (I'm using "Delightfully-Smooth" GTK 1 theme from the "gtk-smooth-engine" package.)
Edit: More GTK 1 engines and themes can be found in the package "gtk1-engines". (GTK 2 themes will not work with the old GTK 1 applications.)

I guess that was it. I reinstalled the engines package and now it's working. thanks!
