Composite/AIGLX even possible on ATI X600 (RV380) with fglrx?

This question first of all is aimed at Arch users who have the same graphics card in their notebook. What are your experiences with fglrx and Composite? Anyone got it working?
I know fglrx should support Composite since 8.41, but I never could get it working. I seems to be enabled, but actually isn't. This is the only clue I have in xorg log:
(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23
(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x24
(WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25
...
...
My xorg.conf and setup should be okay, and I don't want to use the radeon drivers because of the lacking powerplay support.

Bye, signor_rossi.

Isn't setting:

 Option "DynamicClocks" true

For your device using the radeon driver equivalent to powerplay?

EDIT: this says so, so use the radeon driver!

Unfortunately not, powerplay in fglrx does something more than just scale the clocks (don't have a reference now, but believe me). sad

Yes, DynamicClocks doesn't have all the features of powerplay (probably voltage adjustments), but it's something.

AFAIK it is not possible ATM. See following thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42955

Tried the radeon driver and found that it isn't the better solution than fglrx for my setup and my card (RV380 is a bitch).
First it is a little awkward that I had to uninstall catalyst-utils first and install libl-dri to get direct rendering working. Of course that is not radeon drivers fault, but I had thought of using radeon when on AC and with a second monitor and using fglrx when on battery and no external monitor and using both would be too much of a hassle.
Then two monitors did not work as expected, X would start up in clone mode, xrandr --auto would not work and setting the display modes explicitly led to screen corruption. Ah, kwin4 would do all the fancy stuff with radeon, albeit slow. Seems I will have to wait another year until I get those fancy effects. lol

I have an ati X600 (RV380) in my desktop and compositing works perfect with xcompmgr. I never tried aiglx though.
